  Be sure to watch Animal Planet's Dogs 101 this fall to see my Golden Doodles strut their stuff!!!  Golden Doodles are a planned cross between a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle. The reasons for this are many, but the main ones are to make a dog that has little to no shedding (not a quality of the Golden Retriever!), decrease the allergic response for someone with dog allergies, and to reduce the health issues that are commonly inherent in each of the parent breeds. Everyone loves the Golden Retriever because they make great family dogs, and are a classic breed. They do however, shed massively, and cannot be tolerated by allergic individuals.  The Standard Poodle is, in my opinion, the best kept secret in Dogdom. They are the dog of choice from mixing with other desirable breeds due to their great intelligence. In the smaller poodle breeds there are issues with dispositions. They can be snappy, cranky, one person dogs that go downhill as they age. Not so with the Standard. These dogs are happy, friendly, very good with children, strangers, and other dogs, and have a disposition that is delightful even into their old age. These qualities make them a wonderful choice for a mix with the Retriever.   The combination of the Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle produces a dog that is smart, has a great chance of not shedding, and is more hypoallergenic than the Retriever, yet is able to maintain the great disposition and some of the look. The dogs that I breed the most however, are called first generation crossbacks (F1b). What this means is that a first generation Doodle is bred back to a Standard Poodle. The reason for this is that mix increases the level of hypoallergenic benefit, is much more likely not to shed, and decreases the chance of a wiry, wispy coat commom to first generation Doodles, and gives a fuller curlier coat. My puppies are delightful little creatures, very playful and affectionate, with beautiful wavy to curly non-shed coats. They are very laid back! They will range in size from 55-75lbs with some breedings to 25-45lbs for others. We have enjoyed a great reputation for happy, healthy laid back puppies that have been the delight of the families that have purchased them. We are also no able to offer a 2year genetic health guarantee on our pups! They will make perfect family dogs, or great companions for the couple or single or retiree who is looking for a devoted friend for life.  |
